Sarah Says Good-Bye to Lemon Drop

When Lemon Drop was born, he weighed 5.7 oz. He was our tiniest pup but had a strong will to survive and never let his size get in the way of making sure he had a nipple to latch on to. Sarah is the "pep talk" giver and she told him that he needed to be sure to push his bigger brothers out of the way so he could eat and grow up to be big and strong. Sarah gave Frida, now known as Mia, the exact same "talk!" If you saw her now, you'd never believe she was the tiniest in her litter. Somehow I think Lemon Drop is going to grow much the same way.

Pictures From December 17, 2008

I somehow managed to catch all six pups in the same picture. What little darlings they are!

Lemon Drop gnawing on the blue ball that is from his Aunt Lyric's litter.

Bear, Lemon Drop and Paloma. They are really making this photo shoot easy. These are my stacking Vizslas!

If you'll remember from a previous writing, Squeak figured out how to escape from the puppy pen. Well, I removed his escape route so now he likes to get up on top of the crates and look to see what he's missing. He's just a little too smart!

I'd like to make a long distance call, please?

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Kirby's brother, Brick, who with lovely mate, Jolie, of Sienna Pointe Vizslas, welcomed 4 females and 2 males into the world during the wee hours of this morning. The pups will share their birthday with Marty (Kirby and Brick's owner)! How amazing is that!?! :)

Squeak, The Escape Artist

Squeak is the first one to figure out that if he climbs on top of the crates, he can step on the bin that is next to the pen and then down to the ground. He's so proud of himself. You should see his tail wag - I think it goes in circles he's so happy!

Let's just hope smarty pants hasn't taught the other pups to do the same thing. If he has, I'll have to turn the entire piece of linoleum around so that the part they've ripped is along the bookcase. (The crates are over the ripped part which I taped but which the pups can't leave alone!)

Pups Are in the House!

The yard at 3:30pm. The snow has continued to come down and we've now lost a tree! The pups won't be spending any time in the yard until conditions get much better.

Let's hope the other trees continue to keep this one off the ground until Marc comes home on Friday!

Take care - Stay warm and be safe on the roads -

Potty Time in the Snow - Are You Kidding?

All I have are puppy coats from Marley. The one Rancher is wearing is obviously still too big because he, my largest pup (at 14.8 pounds), swims in it! The one Bear is wearing fits a whole lot better. In a couple of weeks, they should be at the point where they'll enjoy running around in the snow but for now, these two aren't so crazy about it!

Same coat, different pup. Marley playing with Patriot.

Squeak - trying to find the right spot.

Lemon Drop didn't seem to mind walking around in the snow and after a moment of walking backwards (trying to walk out of the coat) he was on his way.

Paloma says, "Are you kidding? What the heck is this stuff?"

The Yard

This was the yard at 7:30 this morning.
