GSPCO Hunt Test July 13 and 14, 2013

Sparrow went birdless on Saturday and didn't stop to point her birds on Sunday. So, no passes this weekend.  She'll be entered in TEVCO's HT on August 3rd, on Sauvie Island. 

CKC Fun Match

Sparrow won the 12-18 month bitches class at the Clackamas Kennel Club's AKC Sanctioned Fun Match on the evening of June 21, 2013. She received a stuffed squeaky toy, a pretty pink ribbon and $22.50 in cash!  Karen handled her in the ring. Afterwards, Karen and I celebrated with a Mexican dinner in Canby.    I thought the judge might give her a placement when she went back in the ring for Best in Show but she chose a Black and Tan Coonhound and a fluffy puppy for Opposite instead. All in all a very nice night on this the longest day of the year!!

Saturday - First day of Hunt Test

Sparrow went birdless in her brace with a Brittany. She ran in the second brace under tough scenting conditions - no wind. In the first three braces that morning, only one dog found a bird. 

In Steve and Loki's first Hunt Test, there was success. Loki found three birds and earned his first leg of his JH title.

Second Day of the Hunt Test

Loki was not entered on Sunday. Sparrow ran in the 4th brace of Juniors and was the first one up after lunch. The breeze held and she found two birds. She scored 8s on Hunting, Bird Finding, Pointing, and 9s on Trainability to earn her first leg of her JH title.

We had a really nice time and wish to thank the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Oregon for putting on a well run Hunt Test, June 1 and 2, 2013.

Playing At Dad's - April 22nd

I took Sparrow and Lily down to Greg and Dennise's so they could play with their Dad, Mojo. Sparrow spent most of her time watching the birds while Lily played ball with Mojo, Taz, and Kiya. It was a beautiful day and we spent a good three hours there playing the entire time! 

Sparrow Hunt Test Training at Field of Dreams

I took Sparrow down to Paul and Kirsten's on April 24th for a little brush up on her bird skills. It's been a hectic year and the last time we were down for training was in October. Watching her scour the fence lines at Greg and Dennise's and watch birds flying overhead, I knew her nose was still good to go.  She didn't let me down - she did some great work. She worked the scent, and turned right on it when she found it. She held her points and even worked well with Destiny, meaning she didn't play around. We worked mostly on pigeons but made sure to test her on a chukar since that's what they use in hunt tests. She did very well and I was pleased.  This little girl makes me happy when I watch her in the field.

Mom - We were hungry and missing you so we helped ourselves to Bree's trail mix. It's your fault for not sending it to her already! Sparrow was saved only because she was in her crate! She was so upset about not getting any, she made herself throw up.

Oh, these girls! They couldn't go with me to get the oil changed on the Explorer and to get groceries. I got home as quickly as I could!!  I still love you - Mom
