Temperament Test

The pups went on Saturday, at exactly 7 weeks, to have their temperament test. We went to Lisa at Pup-A-Razzi. Having her do the testing fit the bill - a person the pups do not know, in a place the pups have never been, with another person they don't know bringing them to Lisa.

Lisa enjoyed working with the litter and scored it as very consistent litter. None of them is sound sensitive (must be all the noise, music and the 101 sounds cd! thanks, Marty) but several did not like having their webbing pinched to show touch sensitivity. Personally, I wouldn't either. All of them retrieved the paper ball that Lisa threw, and all seemed to know what the bird wing was although not all of them figured out how to pick it up and bring it back to her. Not that they didn't try - it's just a little hard to pick up something you are standing on. I was really amazed they didn't freak out when she opened the umbrella - they all seemed to like chewing on it but then, they are chewing on just about everything.

Temperament wise, I believe I hit the mark with all the pups having stable temperaments. Any of them will be able to work in any home they go into to. They were a kick to watch, so playful, friendly, and, of course, curious.

One piece of the puzzle down - two more to go. They will have their structure evaluation this coming Saturday.

First Time On A Wing

On Saturday, the weather was nice enough to take the pups outside and do a little bird work with them. I wasn't able to get pictures of all the pups and in fact, only managed to click these three. On Sunday, Suzanne came over to do some more work with them in the house, and one or two at a time. It seems to have helped to have one sit out and watch the other one work in order to understand what was expected. I hope to do a little more work with them in the coming weeks.







I sure wish the yard was in better shape, but once the rain starts, this is about as good as it gets. Does anyone remember the pretty sod we laid last summer? Almost all gone. This is the reason I'm still trying to talk Marc into putting a patio here instead.

Easiest Photos

Since it's getting harder to capture the pups while they are standing still, photographing them sleeping is easiest. Of all the little dog beds we have here, the pups seem to prefer this one best. They can't wait to pounce inside it whenever I toss it into the pen. It sure is funny to watch them jockey for position into it.



I think this is Patriot - wish I could see his collar color.

Looks a little like Kilroy, as in Kilroy was here! We would just need to have his nose and paws hanging over the edge! But, I like him looking over the edge of the crate to see what I am doing.
